SHE SHOPS IN BED

I’m Gigi. Fashion found me before I found myself.

I grew up in Jamaica, in my mother’s closet — trying on things that didn’t fit yet, pretending they did. Back then, getting dressed wasn’t vanity. It was control. It was expression. It was one of the few places a quiet girl could say something without opening her mouth.
I carried that with me to America — through fashion school, the Fashion Institute of Technology, through the detours and the restarts. I was supposed to become a radiologist. Then a fashion student. Then a designer. I kept arriving somewhere new, only to find the label didn’t quite fit either.
What I know for certain is this: I have never stopped thinking about clothes. How they feel. What they mean. What they reveal about the woman wearing them — and the woman she is becoming.
SSIB — She Shops in Bed — is what happens when you stop shopping for things and start shopping for feeling. It is a private fashion journal. A world I built from the inside out. A place for women who cannot help caring deeply about how they dress, and feel everything while doing it.

I photograph myself because no one else sees what I see. This is where I show you.

Welcome in.
